Dinner is Served ! “Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger, and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ’Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed you, or thirsty, and give you drink? And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe you? And when did we see You sick or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’” - Jesus |

Cheri Druschel has been the driving force behind this outreach almost from the beginning. Our Tuesday night dinner for the homeless began as a direct result of a women’s Bible study many years ago. We were reading and discussing Charles Sheldon’s classic Christian novel In His Steps. |

Every Tuesday night, without fail, a hot meal is served for any of the needy in the community who care to come. They are greeted with smiles, good food – as much as they can eat – donated clothes, and a place where they can be among friends. Every week there are new faces, but there are also those who have been coming for years. Some initially came during a temporary financial crisis and have continued to come, as much for the sense of family & community as for the actual meal. Our guests also have the opportunity to be fed spiritually. Ron Maurel is currently conducting a study of the gospel of John that begins as soon as the dinner is over. All are invited and several are attending this class. |

Cheri has a good crew of workers – food servers, pots & pans scrubbers, cake bakers, and table washers – but we can always use help. Please let us know if you can help - email Darlene. |

For 20 years the Costa Mesa Church of Christ has been known in the community as “the church that feeds the hungry.” The Caring Kitchen invites strangers in, feeds them, gives them something to drink, and even clothes them if the need is there. |

It is the story of a minister and five members of his congregation who agree to conduct their lives, for a year, according to one simple question: “What would Jesus do?” Their lives were, of course, forever changed, and so were the lives of the women in our class. We knew we couldn’t complete our study without asking ourselves, “What would Jesus have us do?” And thus was born what is now called the Caring Kitchen. |
