Rapture & Eschatology
Sam’s post about the rapture and antichrist reminds me: I have a book that I haven’t had time to finish.
Sam (and/or others), will you borrow this book from me, and/or get one from Amazon, read it, and do a “book report” and/or couple of classes for the group?
It’s an easy read, about 200 pages paperback.
Doing a thorough study of eschatology, rapture, antichrist, revelation and all that is REALLY hard, and not (I think) worth the effort, yet. It can get very weird and very difficult, because one has to understand “apocalyptic” literature, which can take years to study and know well.
Seeing that the modern theories about ‘left behind’ and stuff like that is nonsense is much easier. Also, it’s pretty easy to get a GENERAL idea of what will happen and how.
So I recommend that one or more of you take time to read over the book. It has discussion questions in the back and can be used as a guide for class. It’d be better if we don’t spend much time on it, but still good to just take a quick look, and this book seems to be a good way to do it.
Email me or respond on the blog, please. |

Share Faith?
Becca asked about something quick to say to tell people about our Father.
Here’s three things:
1. S.W.A.T. Audio Three lessons, about one hour each, done at Pepperdine Bible Lectures. You can download them and put them on your iPod and listen whenever you want to.
2. S.W.A.T. Video Same as Audio, but this is 4 lessons, done on DVD, and specifically made for teens. We could have a small group meeting, do it during class in January, or whatever is best.
3. Just Walk Across the Room This is the best. It’s several lessons (I think 4) and has a book and workbooks and videos and all kinds of stuff. It’s for adults, but it will make perfect sense. We should do this in class, for sure... sometime in the future
Kirk recommends: Listen to the SWAT now, then we’ll decide if we wanna do the video.
After that, we should ALSO do the JWATR videos. They’re more about developing relationships and friendships, whereas the SWAT is mostly about what to do when you only barely meet someone and/or only have a few minutes.
Email me or post to the blog, and let me know what you want to do.

Lessons & Slides
If you click here, you should get an html version of the slides from Feb 3, and if you RIGHT CLICK here, you can download the PowerPoint itself. You’ll need a copy of PowerPoint software to see it, but downloading it is better if you want the bits that slide across the screen. |
